1 Make a drawing of your floor with the layout of the floor heating mat. The drawing will help you install the mat as well as help you remember how it was laid out if you would like to do any changes in your room in the future.

It is very important that you make the mat fit to your floor space. You cannot cut the cable to shorten the mat.
Make the mat cover as much of your floor as possible, avoiding areas with gutters, pipes, baths, toilet, permanent cupboards etc. Also avoid areas in your floor where you might have to drill.
Do not place the cables closer than 18mm from each other and never cross them.
The cable should not be bent under a radius of 18mm.
Power consumption is not determined by W/m2, but by the thermostat being programmed to ensure the optimum, economic operation of your underfloor heating.
The heating cable is made of 2 heating elements which is why you only have one connection.

7.9 m² 0.5 x 15.8 m 1580 W
9.6 m² 0.5 x 19.2 m 1920 W
Cut a channel2 If you want your connecting cable to be invisible, you will need to cut a channel in the wall for that purpose before you lay out your floor heating mat.
3 The temperature in the room should not be under +5 °C during the installation. If you have chosen to use a floor sensor you need to cut the channel wide enough for two cables.

The sensor should be placed centrally between two cables under the mat.

The floor sensor can also be placed in an installation pipe so that it is possible to replace it if necessary. If the floor sensor is installed in a pipe you must remember to close the pipe to prevent tile adhesive and/or filler from getting into it.
4 Clean the floor thoroughly and apply PVA primer to the floor before you lay out your heating mat. Always use primer appropriate to the type of levelling compound or flexible adhesive you have chosen for the floor.

A waterproof membrane is needed in wet room floors.

Lay out the mat in accordance with your drawing.

When you reach the wall cut the mat by cutting the net (not the heating cable).

Care is to be taken when cutting the mat. Do not cut the heating cable.
Always use rubber shoes when you walk on the heating mat.
Be careful when you lay out the mat to avoid damage.
The black connection must not be bent.

Then turn the mat in the direction required. e.g left or right.

Allow space for the black connection.

The whole mat (all the green cable) including the connection to the black connecting cable has to be covered by the levelling compound or adhesive.
5 When the mat has been laid and adapted to the room, remove the backing from the tape and press the heating mat firmly against the floor before you cover it with adhesive.
6 A competent person should, before and after covering the heating mat with levelling compound or adhesive, check the following:
Check that the ohm rating is correct in accordance with the label on the mat.
Check for leaking current to earth.
The power supply system connected to the mat, must always contain a failure-current detection circuit (RCD)
Ensure that the heating mat is totally covered with levelling compound or adhesive.

7 When you use levelling compound or adhesive make sure it is made for floor heating e.g.(flexible). If you are going to place tiles on the floor the adhesive can be applied directly on the heating mat. Ensure that the heating cable under the mat is totally encapsulated by the adhesive or the compound.

When using levelling compound it is advisable to stick down the outer edges of the matting with a glue gun or double sided tape to avoid the mat lifting.
It is important that the floor is fully dried out before you turn the power on. Follow the instructions on the levelling compound/tile adhesive package thoroughly.
If you have chosen a floor covering other than tiles, such as wooden parquet, linoleum or wall to wall carpeting, you need an average of 10mm of levelling compound, and a minimum of 5mm above the heating cables. Alternatively, you may be able to use Heat Mat Wooden Floor Heating system
Never cut the heating cable for any reason.
Heat MatŪ Cable kit

Heat Mat Cable kit is easier, faster and cheaper to install compared to traditional heating systems.
Heat Mat floor heating can be fitted by anyone under all floor coverings e.g, tiles, wood, laminate, vinyl or granite.

Flexibility
You can choose if you would like there to be more heat around the toilet, washbasin or in your shower cubicle than the rest of the floor. In these places you will appreciate the comfortable heat that Heat Mat floor heating gives. That is the advantage with Heat Mat cable kits, the flexibility for individual control of the heat comfort in the room. Remember to follow the installation manual that comes with the Heat Mat cable kit.

Reaction Time
With traditional heating systems you have to know the exact size of the room where the under floor heating is to be installed. With Heat Mat cable kits (loose heating cables) you only need to know an approximate size.
When you fit the heating cable you follow the instructions on the opposite side.
When the underfloor heating is correctly installed there will be a short reaction time to
heat the floor. The effect of heat measured in watts per m2 depends on the distance between the heating cables (c.c), the higher the watts the shorter the reaction time to heat the floor. The temperature is controlled by a thermostat which ensures secure, precise and economical running of your floor heating.

Running Costs
The running costs can be controlled by a thermostat that has a room and floor sensor that constantly check the temperature of the floor and the room.
The sensors are controlling the programming that you have placed into the thermostat.
The thermostat can give you the possibility to programme for 7 days and programme a maximum and minimum floor temperature (recommended with wooden floors).
